Do I need an assessment?
Rehability provides a comprehensive Home Safety Assessment to ensure clients maximise their safety and independence in their home. This assessment is most beneficial for a client returning home from hospital; or after an injury or illness; or when caring for a family member.
People often blame the ageing process for problems they encounter with daily activities, when it could be the design and setup of the home itself, which creates unnecessary difficulties. Small modifications can make a significant difference to your lifestyle at home.
So if you or a family member is having difficulty with mobility around their home, showering or bathing, dressing, falling or fear of falling, then a Home Safety Assessment might just be the appropriate solution.

To discover the potential benefit of a Home Safety Assessment, simply call Rehability on (03) 9481 6886 to discuss your particular circumstances with our Referral Coordinators, who are Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. If you then feel a Home Safety Assessment would be beneficial, a Rehability Therapist will meet you at your home at a time convenient to you to further discuss your concerns and complete the assessment.
What happens after an assessment?
Following the assessment you will be given a report, which clearly outlines what can be done to maximise your safety and independence at home. Recommendations may include providing equipment such as handrails or bathchairs or advice on dressing and showering. You may also benefit from a simple exercise program to improve your balance, strength and mobility. Rehability can put the recommendations in place, though you are not obliged to proceed with the Therapist's recommendations. You may be eligible for financial assistance or funded programs to put these recommendations in place and your Rehability Therapist can advise you on your eligibility.
